Ellmau, home of the Bergdoktor TV series, welcomes you with Alpine flair to a grandiose mountain landscape. The Baroque parish church of St. Michael is the icing on the cake in the picture-perfect setting. With two golf courses and the Kaiserbad water park, you won’t be bored during your stay in Ellmau. Families love exploring the Ellmi’s Zauberwelt adventure park.

Our apartments are something of an insider secret for nature lovers, and represent an ideal base for wonderful hikes and excursions. The centre of Ellmau is just a 10-minute walk away, and the 27-hole Wilder Kaiser golf course is only a 5-minute walk. In winter, there is a ski-bus stop right outside the building, and you can join the cross-country skiing trail here too.
Welcome to the Wilder Kaiser region
The Wilder Kaiser region, in the middle of the Kitzbühel Alps, boasts breath-taking mountain vistas and is a popular travel destination all year round. In summer, the crystal clear bathing lakes beckon you in, and you can explore forests, meadows and mountains on a 700-km network of trails that has been awarded the Austrian Hiking Seal of Quality. Passionate mountain bikers and climbers also love the holiday region, which, in addition to Ellmau, also includes the villages of Going, Scheffau and Söll. Here you can experience traditional Tyrolese customs and try delicious regional specialities involving bacon and cheese.
These taste just as good in winter, after a long day in the SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser-Brixental, perhaps, with its 284 kilometres of piste and 90 mountain lifts and railways.
On the trail of the “Bergdoktor”
Ellmau has gained international fame as the idyllic filming location of the popular TV series Der Bergdoktor. Dr Martin Gruber, played by actor Hans Sigl, has been practicing for more than ten years, and has experienced the entire spectrum of emotions over that time. Fans of the series flock to Ellmau to visit the various locations that appeared on TV. The doctor’s surgery in Hinterschnabel Hof, for example, is located in the Faistenbichl area of Ellmau. You’ll find the Gruberhof farm, which is actually called Knöpfing Hof in real life and is run by the Mayr family, in Söll. The exterior shots of the Wilder Kaiser hotel were filmed on the village square in Going, while the interior scenes were done in the Föhrenhof in Ellmau.
